Summary: We collect your name, email, and professional details when you subscribe. We use Mailchimp to send newsletters. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We only share professional details with research-focused partner organisations, and you can opt out at any time. We only serve adult professionals aged 18 and over.
Biomed Today is an independent biomedical science news publication operating at biomedtoday.com. We are not a registered company at this time. All data and privacy enquiries should be directed to biomedtodaynews@gmail.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with applicable law including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
When you subscribe to our newsletter you may provide: first name, last name, email address, job title, company or university name, department or organisation type, job function, and country. Required fields are necessary to deliver our service. All other fields are optional and help us understand and serve our readership better.
When you visit our website we may automatically collect technical data including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This data is collected in anonymised aggregate form to help us improve our content and is not used to identify individual users.
When a researcher, institution, or company submits content for publication — including research descriptions, press releases, study summaries, graphical abstracts, or images — we receive the content and the contact details of the submitting party. These contact details are used solely to manage the submission and are not shared or used for marketing.
We process your data on the basis of your consent — given when you subscribe — and our legitimate interest in providing a high-quality biomedical science publication. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Biomed Today publishes sponsored research and partner content submitted by research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology organisations, academic groups, and individual researchers. Content provided to us — including written descriptions, research summaries, graphical abstracts, and images — is published exactly as submitted without editorial modification. We do not independently verify all claims in submitted content. All sponsored and partner content is clearly labelled on our platform.
Graphical abstracts and scientific illustrations submitted to us are used exclusively to describe and illustrate the associated research on our platform. We do not redistribute these materials, share them with third parties, sell them, or reproduce them in any context beyond their publication on Biomed Today. Submitting researchers and institutions retain full intellectual property rights. Materials may be removed upon written request to biomedtodaynews@gmail.com.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers, advertising agencies, or marketing networks under any circumstances.
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
We use Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) to manage our subscriber list and deliver newsletters. Your name and email are stored on Mailchimp’s servers under a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement. Mailchimp’s privacy policy is available at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.
Where you have given consent through your subscription, we may share your professional details — specifically your job title, organisation type, job function, and country — with carefully selected partner organisations in the biomedical research and healthcare sectors. These partners may contact you about relevant research opportunities or professional services. We do not share your email address directly with partners without your explicit additional consent. You may opt out at any time by emailing biomedtodaynews@gmail.com or using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
We may disclose your information where required by law, court order, or a competent regulatory authority.
Biomed Today serves adult professionals aged 18 and over exclusively. Our content covers advanced biomedical research, clinical science, and pharmaceutical topics not appropriate for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware a minor has submitted data to us, we will delete it immediately. Contact us at biomedtodaynews@gmail.com if you believe a minor has provided us information.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. Our newsletter is delivered via Mailchimp, which employs industry-standard encryption and security practices. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We encourage subscribers to notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorised use of their information.
We retain your personal data for as long as you remain an active subscriber. Upon unsubscription, your active subscriber record is removed from our mailing system within 30 days. We may retain anonymised, aggregate data about subscriber demographics for internal editorial analysis. We do not retain identifiable personal data beyond the period required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected.
Biomed Today is operated from the United Kingdom. Our email platform Mailchimp stores data on servers in the United States. Such transfers are conducted under standard contractual clauses approved under GDPR. By subscribing you consent to your data being processed in these jurisdictions.
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; request deletion of your data; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. UK residents may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. EU residents should contact the data protection authority in their country.
To exercise any of these rights, email biomedtodaynews@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers by email. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
